Love, For the Day is Near.

And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies, and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. (Romans 13:11-14)
I write this with a heavy heart, hoping someone who does not know the Bible will read and try to understand. So often I receive comments like, “If God is good, He will understand my weaknesses” or “A good God would not send people to hell, - it must be figurative. If I have lived a good life, I should be OK.”
The Lord is wearied by those who say, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them,” or “Where is the God of Justice?” (Malachi 2:17)
Then there are those who proclaim, “If God was good He wouldn’t allow all the crime and violence in the world. Why do people get away with rape, murder, robbery?”
You want to see God? Beware! He will come when least expected.
Do you think the devil is a comical red-coated imp with as forked spear? He is happy with that!
My one son has phoned, to say that after three months dry, he will “Stop drinking again at midnight.” Without Christ, he is lost. The devil is tapping him on the shoulder again, and saying, “Don’t worry. It’s not serious. You can always start again, and stop again.”
“Test me”, says God. The sacrifice He desires is a broken and contrite heart.
The Lord watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. Psalm 145:20
Who are the wicked? Those who try to go it alone. Those who decide they are wise in their own sight. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalm 1:4-6)
It is not the Lord’s will that any should be lost, but we are wilful. Only if we turn to Him will he save us from ourselves. My son is in His hands, and I cannot leave him in a better place.
